Stop talking about Paw Patrol, you’re distracting me. Paramount+ is the new UK streaming home of the Star Trek universe, including the pre-2009 films and all of the TV incarnations from The Original Series to recent prequel Strange New Worlds, and including season four of Discovery, which UK fans previously had to track down on Pluto TV when it was yanked from Netflix in readiness for this launch. Anybody signing up for the free seven-day trial (UK subscription thereafter costs £6.99 a month) should be aware that though seven episodes of Strange New Worlds have already aired in the US, only the first three are currently available to stream on Paramount+ in the UK, with new episodes being added weekly. The same goes for videogame adaptation Halo (the first episode of which will be free to view on Channel 5 on Wednesday the 22nd of June in a bid to lure in new subscribers for the next eps) and new Walter Tevis adaptation The Man Who Fell to Earth, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, a new take on the 1970s David Bowie-starring Nic Roeg film. Those series are being drip-fed to keep subscribers on the hook. Fans of bloody family sagas with horses will be pleased to know that seasons one to three of Taylor Sheridan’s Kevin Costner-starring drama Yellowstone plus all of its spin-off 1883 are available to stream on Paramount+. Yellowstone season four aired in the US earlier this year, and is due for release on the streaming service at a later date. The good news for Sky Cinema subscribers is that they now have free access to Paramount+ and its brands including SHOWTIME, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures, which is no small beer. That means all of South Park up to the 2020 and 2021 COVID specials, Spongebob Squarepants and many more. See The Godfather making-of miniseries The Offer, Kyle Chandler thriller Mayor of Kingstown, Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber, The First Lady, Sexy Beast, The Ex-Wife, The Blue and A Gentleman in Moscow.
